Terms and conditions

Terms

Last updated: September 5, 2026

1. The service

CartolinaLenta ("the Service"), run by [Name/company name of the Data Controller], lets you write and send a digital postcard to a real person, by email, with a simulated delivery that takes a few days, like a real postcard. By using the Service you accept these Terms.

2. Access

You can sign in with a link sent to your email (magic link), with a password you choose, or with "Sign in with Google". You're responsible for keeping access to your mailbox, your password and your Google account (if you use it to sign in), and for any activity carried out from your CartolinaLenta account.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account section: it's final. Postcards already genuinely sent aren't deleted along with everything else, though: they stay visible to whoever received them, simply detached from your deleted account (whoever received them won't know which account they were once tied to). If you have a Time Capsule not yet opened, the deletion page explicitly asks what to do with it: delete it entirely (whoever is waiting for it will never receive it) or leave it in transit, so it still arrives on the expected date. See the Privacy notice, point 4, for the full detail on what stays and what doesn't.

3. The basic rule: you write from where you really are (or from where you simulate being)

The Service asks for your device's location to unlock the postcards of the city you're in, the way you could once only mail the real postcard of the place you were actually visiting. If you don't want to or can't share your location, demo mode lets you simulate being in a city of your choice: today this unlocks the experience exactly as a real location would, sending included. Use it honestly toward whoever will receive the postcard.

4. The content you write (and the photos you upload)

You're solely responsible for what you write: the message, the recipient's name, city and email. As with a real postcard, the recipient doesn't need to have asked for it in advance: it's normal to send it to someone you know without their prior consent. What you can't do is use the Service for unlawful, offensive or deceptive content, to send to strangers in bulk or in an automated way, or otherwise to spam. If you choose to upload your own photo instead of the ones on offer, you're responsible for that too: it must be yours, or otherwise legally available to you, and must not infringe third-party rights. I reserve the right to suspend or close an account in case of abuse of the Service.

If you received an unwanted postcard, or appear in someone's address book without wanting to, write to the address given in the Privacy notice, point 1: you don't need an account to ask me this.

5. Minimum age

The Service isn't intended for people under 16. By using it, you declare you're at least 16, or have the consent of whoever holds parental responsibility over you.

6. The photographs

The curated photographs the app offers for each city belong to their respective authors and are used under the licenses shown next to each image (Creative Commons or public domain). Your use of them through the Service is limited to sharing the postcard as generated by the app; you're not authorized to extract and reuse them outside this context beyond what the original license already allows. If instead you upload your own photo, this rule doesn't apply: it stays yours, you're answerable for it under point 4 above.

7. Costs

The Service is currently offered free of charge, with reasonable limits, if any, on the number of postcards you can send, to contain abuse. If paid features or quantities are introduced in the future, these Terms will be updated accordingly and you'll be shown a clear notice before any charge.

8. Service availability

The Service is provided "as is". I do what I can to keep it running continuously, but I don't guarantee the absence of interruptions, delays or errors, including those caused by third-party providers (for example the email-sending service or the hosting infrastructure).

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, I'm not liable for a missed or delayed email delivery caused by the recipient's spam filters, wrong email addresses entered by the sender, or issues with the third-party providers listed in the Privacy notice.

10. Intellectual property

The name "CartolinaLenta", its logo and the software that runs the Service belong to the Data Controller. The photographs remain the property of their respective authors or licensors, as indicated point by point in the app.

11. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms over time; the date at the top of the page shows the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Italian law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Milan, except for the non-waivable consumer forum where provided by law.
